According to Linda Gorton, Mayor of Lexington, the city's budget will not have any cuts this year.
The city passes a budget of almost 540 million US dollars this year. The mayor says that the city is projecting an increase in sales by 5%, but they also record an increase in costs by 9% due to increasing material prices.
According to Gorton, all of its federal grants are intact for the time being. She says she does not expect that to change, but they observe potential federal financing cuts.
“We do not believe that cost growth will slow down,” said Gorton. “So we tightened our belt a little. There is no worry. We are not afraid that we will not earn our budget. But we see that we find the way, we have to tighten ourselves a little.”
“We keep an eye on,” she said. “We have our federal lobbyists up there with people, we have our state lobbyists and we currently have no indication that we will have cuts.”
A new children's museum, more financing for snow events and an increase in the 3% increase in the non -difficult city affiliated are among the objects that are included in this year's budget.
