A national wood company has moved its former Henrico County location to Powhatan County.

84 wood opened the doors in its new, 48,000 square meter half -timbered factory in 1895 South Creek One in the South Creek Industrial Park. The facility is located in the former Ferguson Water Works building and is located near the Löwen shopping center with anchored South Creek.

84 Lumber in Pennsylvania operates 320 locations in 34 states, including shops, component manufacturing systems, customer -specific door stores and technical wood product centers. It has 17 locations in Virginia.

The Powhatan facility took off a 20,000 square meter work in the 8801 Landmark Road in Henrico County. 84 wood converted the Landmark Road location in 2021 into a half -timbered plant.

Steve Benko, Manager of 84 Lumber Area said, said that the company led to a growing need for roof and floor binders to look for a larger place in order to meet the needs.

After the first year of the company, the Landmark Road location used production facility as a half -timbered manner, he added to discuss one step.

“It was a modest facility to go into the market. The business has grown so quickly that we had to move to a much larger place, and we came up with the location in Powhatan,” said Benko.

Benko said that 84 wood can triple the volume of the roof and floor binder and wooden slices that it generated in the Landmark Road location in the new Powhatan facility. The growing real estate market in Powhat also led 84 wood to look at the place, said Benko.

The renovation work in the new 84 wood system started about nine months ago. The former Ferguson building has remained largely unchanged on the outside, while the interior has gone through a total uppit for an automated half -timbered -in -acture facility. The furnishings manufacture roof and floor binders and wall panels for houses and uses computer -aided saws and specialized jigging devices.

Benko refused to share the costs to get the facility up and running.

84 wood moves from the Missiouri main technology product supplier Mitkek.

There are currently 30 employees in the Powhatan facility, and the company would like to add another 25 to the staff over the next 30 days. Next spring, 84 wood hopes to have around 85 employees in the facility, said Benko.

84 wood also runs a 92,000 square meter business in the 2510 Bellwood Road in Chesterfield County. This location was opened at the end of 2019 after it was consolidated two smaller operations that the company had in the region at that time.

The lumberjack company has a further production of Virginia Truss in the Winchester region.

An 84-wood spokesman confirmed that there are no plans for further locations in Richmond at this point.

84 wood was founded in 1956 and has its headquarters in Vierundachtzig, Pennsylvania. It is the largest private provider of building materials in the USA for trading buildings and single and multi-family houses.
