The St. Johns County replaces $ 25 million in SR16 improvements

At its regular session on June 17, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners approved resolutions to carry out contracts of more than 25 million US dollars in road improvement projects for State Road 16.

“We are enthusiastic about promoting these two projects to improve road improvement,” said Greg Caldwell, director of public work. “These improvements will reduce the delays, increase the road connection and improve the safety of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians who use SR 16.”

Here are the contracts:

  • The construction of improvements to the road intake on SR 16, from the International Golf Parkway (IGP) to County Road 2209, was awarded to CW Matthews contracting Co., Inc. as the lowest, reaction -fast and responsible bidder for $ 21,460,052. The scope of this project includes the expansion of SR 16 to four traces from IGP to CR 2209, improvements in the SR 16 and IGP interface and construction of the intersection of SR 16 and CR 2209.
  • The construction improvements and the signaling for the crossings of SR 16 with Stratton Boulevard and Industry Center Road were on Bech and Smith Civil Group, Inc. as the lowest, reaction fast. and responsible bidder for $ 4,340,464.10. The scope of this project includes the construction of four two -phase traffic signals, the addition of two medium openings and the provision of signal protection for pedestrians.

Funds of the Florida Ministry of Transport partially finance both projects.

“These SR -16 projects are two of the currently 42 transport projects with more than 205 million US dollars in the district's capital improvement program,” said Caldwell.
