Oklahoma is preparing to award a contract worth more than $1 million on Monday for the electric vehicle charging network mandated by the Biden administration.
The State Transportation Commission will award the contracts to a number of successful bidders at its 11 a.m. meeting in Oklahoma City. The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure or NEVI Charging Infrastructure contract award totals $1,002,225.22.
The NEVI program was created by the Infrastructure Investment Jobs Act to help Oklahoma and other states with mandatory expansion of the nation's electric vehicle infrastructure. Oklahoma has issued a request for proposals seeking bids to construct, maintain and operate electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The commission is also expected to provide $801,780.81 in federal funding for EVgo, a location service for electric vehicle charging networks. The EVgo in question is located at Exit 124 on I-44. Those who use the charging stations pay a tax of three cents per kilowatt hour, set by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, on the electric power used to charge or recharge the battery of an electric vehicle.
The Oklahoma Transportation Commission's monthly meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 2nd at 11 a.m, at the RA Ward Transportation Building, 200 NE 21st St., Oklahoma City.
The public and media are welcome to attend or watch the livestream.
Points to be discussed at the meeting:
