Each year at the 2024 Makers & Manufacturers Awards, the Portland Business Journal recognizes the region's top manufacturing companies that help drive the economy forward with innovation, excellence and productivity. The nominated companies are shaping the future and building what is needed for the next generation.

At the event, Timberlab was named Innovator of the Year, LBM Journal reported (9/24/12).

Reacting to the award, Timberlab said:

“Timberlab was selected for its collaboration and contribution to the new solid wood terminal at Portland International Airport, which opened to the public this year. Our team was brought in early to help coordinate a regional timber package. We used state-of-the-art manufacturing technology to track each piece of wood from forest to frame, ensuring the project stays true to its ambitious sustainability goals.”

“The solid wood terminal at PDX would not have been possible without the thousands of hands that helped bring this monumental structure to life. Our team is grateful to be part of a team of regional leaders and innovators committed to ensuring this project achieves what was previously considered unattainable. Mass timber is here to stay and this project will serve as a testament to the many benefits of building with local and sustainable building materials.”

Timberlab President Chris Evans said:

“We are committed to reinvesting in our timber communities. We see solid wood as a bridge between the urban and rural economies. Since our founding, we have been committed to advancing the industry through smart investments in manufacturing technology and the creation of new sustainable jobs. Timberlab brings innovation and automation to a state with a rich history in timber production and provides a path for the future.”
