{KXLG-Watertown, SD} An important project for the surfaces of asphalt concrete will begin on Friday, June 27, 2025, on the southern lanes of Interstate 29 between Watertown and Brookings. A 12-mile route from Autobahn from exit 150 to exit 140 is subject to detailed work, which result in surveillance and traffic flows.
The project includes grinding and asphalt concrete resources of the main traces to the south as well as the associated on and off-ramps. In addition, improvements include cuiquail updates, pipe work, ramp paths and modifications for acceleration and traces of delay.
During the entire project, I-29 traffic to the south is redirected to the lanes to the north, which creates a continuous two-way traffic configuration. This setup remains on the spot until the project is complete. Drivers in the region should be aware of these changes and exercise caution when they travel through the work zone.
Duininck Inc., a company based in Watertown, SD, is the main entrepreneur for this $ 9.8 million project. The expected total closure date for the work is Friday, October 17, 2025.
