Charleston, WV – A project for the reconstruction of Interstate 79 between the Roanoke exit and Jane Lew Road is one of the 26 construction projects awarded by the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
Mountaine Contractors Inc. received a contract for $ 15,603,905 in order to powder the existing sidewalk at the I-79 section in order to create a new street base that was rebuilt from the ground up.
The work is necessary because the original concrete slabs on which the Interages are built up and cracked and lived their lives. Paying the continuation of the existing plates will cause further problems in the long run.
“It's a kind of ultimate solution,” said WVDOH State Highway engineer Jake Bumgarner, PE

Several factors are taken into account before a offer, including the question of whether a bid above or under the estimate of the WVDOH engineer and the percentage is. In cases where an offer is above the engineer's estimate, WVDOH must have the project needs, the effects of non -awarding the project, additional financing sources and whether there are sufficient reasons for the differences in the estimates. Most projects are checked, analyzed and awarded within a week after renting the offer, but the process can take longer.
If the division of highways has a project that is best built by a contractor, it is processed by the BID rental system. Lossing is a planned opportunity for contractors to check and offer several construction projects at the same time. The rentals are held once or twice a month and carried out online at www.bidx.com via the BID Express system and dealt with the Department of Contract Administration. Treasurer must subscribe to BID Express before offers can be accepted for each project.
Work in all 55 counties across the state, the West Virginia Division of Highways and the Ministry of Transport of West Virginia are reminiscent of the importance of security in the work areas. “Respect the zone; let's go home!”
